When I said during my childs meltdown -My 12 yo daughter ...We need a break and come back to this after we both calm down. I wouldnt dare say the exact words stated in this webinar because it would sound condescending i think, either way my daughter just pointed ger figure at me and said what is this all about , omg who are youwhy are you trying to be somebody else. Which is her main line i hear daily. But I know ive been caught in yhe struggle in the past, calming down is seems obvious.

My stepdaughters don't know what consequences are. They always get what they want and if they don't get it when they want it, automatically makes my partner the bad parent and they don't hold back in saying it loud and clear regardless of who's around. I always tell him they need to have consequences for their bad actions or behavior but he's a softy he lacks all sorts of authority when it comes to his daughters and they both know this, being in this situation is exhausting. The mom insists in saying she does whatever those girls want and there's the problem that we have absolutely no say in.

I have been watching your RUclips videos and listened to your audio book. My 12 year old son has too and my husband. We have been practicing the principles for a few months with ups and downs. This video is spot on with how my son is going through puberty and sleeping more than eating and drinking water has always been a struggle so he is especially dehydrated after going on hikes. He has ADHD, high functioning autism and OCD. I watched your video on ADHD and have been hoping we could continue putting the principals in practice instead of medication. It's been difficult, I feel like I am always reminding him of daily responsibilities and I have trouble with my calm at times. I especially lost my cool yesterday and exploded with lots of screaming. I apologized and explained how embarrassed I was for my reaction and we talked about how we should have done things differently. I am recovering from breast cancer so I have trouble with anxiety and get triggered by his behavior because he's constantly fidgeting and ignoring his homeschooling assignments, running around randomly too. I am doing my best and do not want to make excuses for my behavior. I do my best to make efforts each day to stick with the program. I would love some tips to keep pushing through the tough times and keeping on track and/ or a video on how to reset after having trouble with maintaining calm. Thank you.

Nicholeen, When a child gets overwhelmed and escalated or grows the sense of being treated unfairly because the parent gets what they want and they don't then disagreeing appropriately may go out the window and they may talk back or say no to what the parent wants from them. Trust me, I mumbled at my parents on numerous occasions back when I was an autistic child and on rare occasions that risked them threatening to pull the belt out and start whippin` butt. Never use a child's respect as a license to provoke their anguish nor dictate their response when they are angry nor dictate what should or should not cause them anguish. Refuse to argue with a child. Give the child time and space to process and deescalate. Be consistent and model what you want to see the child be like. And ultimately, that child might begin to come back around to you.

In 1941, Nazi Germany invaded the USSR. After an area was taken by the Wehrmacht, the Germans deployed the Einstatsgruppen. This was a special branch of the SS with a specific mission involving Soviet Officials, Intellectuals and most notably Jews (adults and children), which were rounded up with the assistance of Heer and Waffen SS forces. These were taken to a field at gunpoint, given shovels, made to dig trenches and were then lined up by the trench and were shot, their bodies falling into the pit. They'd continue shooting until the trench was full, then they'd repeat the process until they disposed of the undesirables. In total they killed 2,000,000 people. There were about 3,000 soldiers in the Einstatsgruppen. They were selected for their tasks, but this was a voluntary position. It was possible to transfer out to another posting and a few did. Most did not. You'd expect them all to be raving Nazi fanatics, raving antisemites or sadists. But post war interviews and evaluations with former members of these killing squads found that this was not the case. They were remarkably normal, men with mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, lovers and friends. So why did they do this? Simple. They saw it as their duty to do the task they were given. The late Dr. Bob Altemeyer (University of Manitoba) wrote the book on the psychology of Authoritarianism. Most people think of the leaders of an authoritarian regime, but in truth just as important are the Authoritarian Follower followers. Among other things is that they have a high degree of respect for those in positions of legitimate authority, as well as uncriticality and conventionalism. Be very wary of those who stress the importance of "Understanding Authority".

My 8-year-old hasn't been diagnosed with A.D.H.D., but the specific criteria aligns with the DSM-5-TR. Said child screams...."Nooooo!!! I don't want to!!!", also whenever told "not right now", after being told 20 times a morning that "we are not going to the park (or whatever)". He can not handle being told no, but acts like his entire world is just over...covers up, cries, and yells. He is such a vocal guy, always yelling...like always. Trying to help him understand ways to regulate his emotions, but my goodness. Gotta find some healthier coping strategies to regulate emotions.

Such great advice! I’m new to your teachings and am curious if you’ve talked about reconnecting with a teen after it seems you’ve lost their heart and they’ve pulled away. We can’t even get him to see he is doing it as he believes everyone back talks. And even attempting to explain it to him causes him to get more argumentative and defensive.

I think language has a huge roel in how we guide our children and hve them come up with appropriate rewards and consequenses, or lifes lessons too. We can 'correct' all we like.. but if we speak form the heart nad use NON VIOLENT communictaion and traning methods too, this allows us to speak more from the heart. When I was a teen and I was 'corrected'... I rebeeled... When I was heard, validated and teh guided, taht made all the difference...

Videos like this makes me cringe. We are deliberately trying to make everything a syndrome, denying basic normal children behavior that tiny humans have experienced everywhere, in every time. It's the history of the world. They will eventually grow out of it, we just need to be firm and loving. Videos like this are really dangerous in the hands of stressed out parents. Engage with them, give them interests, your children are ok. It's just really hard being a parent and we need to embrace that without rushing to find syntoms and syndroms which we can magically cure with the right "parenting trick." it's SUPPOSED to be hard😂 embrace THAT. i will add that there are surely some good advice in this video, some of it us just common sense. Love the advice but these people so out of touch with reality, most households now uh days have two working parents. Kids spend most the day at school and after school programs or babysitters. So your tell me in the four hour window I have at home with my family because this government is trash and we all work to much for practically nothing but food and a roof over our head, your telling me I got to do some 24hr course and other nonsense. I bet my kids would listen better if they wasn't being raised by the school system and daycare centers and actually felt like they was in a family. Everyones always working and it's fuckin ridiculous. They system is destroying family values and family time and trying to replace it with individualism and self obsession so we can all be good little workers and pay taxes. They destroyed the family dynamics and they did it to the black community first and now everyone else by allowing women in the work force to double tax income as if it was a positive thing for women to start working 40hrs a week and abandoning they kids to the system in pursuit of income greed and self
